Double Attack (2011), another backlit steel sculpture, also takes its inspiration from Duchamp’s widely discussed chess problem whereby Du- champ abandoned his artistic practice for chess. In reverse order to Duchamp, Çavuşoğlu began playing chess at an early age before he embarked on a study and career in fine art, however, the dual concepts of logic and mapping that exist within the practice and performance of chess have followed throughout his practice. Ordinarily, within the game of chess the white figures can threaten two figures simultaneously, but in Double Attack Çavuşoğlu multiplies the black figures to create a brand new dilemma.
